Dear Reverend Fathers and Parish Communities,
On November 12, National Clergy Appreciation Day, and throughout the month of November, dedicated to honouring clergy, we, the Catholic Independent Schools of the Diocese of Nelson, extend our heartfelt gratitude to you, our pastors, for your priestly witness, your pastoral care, and your unwavering support of Catholic education.
Your partnership in the mission of faith formation is essential. In communities blessed with Catholic schools, your leadership offers spiritual guidance to students and staff, strengthens our Catholic identity, and upholds the mission of Catholic education. In parishes without schools, you carry the vital work of evangelization through catechetical programs, youth ministry, and family faith formation; ensuring that every young person can encounter Christ and grow in the life of the Church.
St. Paul reminds us: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” (Romans 10:15). In every parish and school, you embody this call, bringing the Good News, not only through your words, but also through your presence, your service, and your daily faithfulness.
In his Apostolic Letter Drawing New Maps of Hope, Pope Leo XIV wrote, education today must be, “a place of encounter, where the Gospel and human experience meet to give life new meaning and hope.” With you, our shared mission continues to grow and bear fruit.
Thank you and God bless.
In Christ,
Pamela Guilbault
